Doctor Who: Podshock will be once again be taking to the net this Sunday, 2 October 2011 for a live-over-the-net show reviewing episodes of the new series with your live feedback, this time it's the finale episode of the 2011 series, The Wedding of River Song.
He's back… and it's about time! We return with our live-over-the-net review series this time talking about episodes of the new series starring Matt Smith as the Doctor on BBC One, BBC America, and Space (Canada) on Saturdays (and in available in iTunes within 24 hours after broadcast). We will be reviewing The Wedding of River Song.

Hmm, I have mixed feelings about this episode.
I feel that the logical consistency of the resolution to the episode lacked. The one good thing that I sense might be coming out of this is the Doctor returning to a smaller stage. But the resolution of a fixed point in time being 'tricked' by the doctor being shot but not killed because he is in the Teleselect (spelling ?) seems weak to me. Its clever but I don't think it makes sense when you stop and think about it. Its almost like Moffet is looking for the surprise and shock in the moment of the 'reveal', but not caring if it really makes sense upon reflection.
Visually I liked the episode and there were some imaginative bits but I think I am starting to get overall story arc fatigue. Possibly on repeat viewings I may raise my rating which is at 2 groans right now ;)
I am aware of the weakness of the argument that TimeLords should not be magic ;) Hoping for more science fiction and tighter writing next season !

I more or less mirror these sentiments. The Doctor Robot is supposed to make The Silence forget about everything and suddenly all of reality is saved because it was tricked into thinking The Doctor was killed? Lame and very weak.
Up until the end I actually liked the episode and its manner of storytelling. The idea of time and realities melding into one was cool, and having The Doctor tell the story through flashbacks was good. And then the reveal at the end of the real Doctor within the robot Doctor? *This* is what the whole split-series was leading up to? Talk about a letdown.
Yet another disappointing series ends with a fizzle. Very poor and boring writing from a showrunner that had done so well early in the new series. I really feel the series needs to go back to its roots and do what made it great...self-contained stories with interesting characters and scary monsters. These series-long arcs just aren't cutting it. It's like they are trying to hard to force the filler stories to fit within the parameters of this season's story. Forget the notion of The Doctor being the lonely traveller. Forget the idea of making him into some universally hated entity. Let him go back to being the curious adventurist. Oh, and bring back Gallifrey and The Time Lords. It's time. Really.
